Sachin Wijayasinghe is a Lecturer (Probationary) in the Department of Commerce at the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He has demonstrated exceptional academic and professional prowess from a young age.
Sachin holds a Master of Science degree from the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, with a Merit Pass and a GPA of 3.95 (2023). He also completed a Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education from the same institution in 2022. He is a Passed Finalist and Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (2020). He graduated with a First Class in Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, ranking 9th in the Dean’s List and receiving the Dr. Patrick Mendis Prize and Prof. Hema Wijeawardena Gold Medal.
Sachin’s research interests are diverse and impactful. His MSc thesis focused on "Investigating citizen centric approach to smart city development and improvement of quality of life in urban cities of Sri Lanka" (2023), and his Bachelor's thesis explored "The role of multinational companies in enhancing rural livelihoods of Dairy farmers in Sri Lanka" (2019). He has contributed to various journal articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters.
Sachin is actively involved in numerous academic and community initiatives. He serves on the FMSC way forward task force, the Student Support Center, and the Faculty Web Committee. He is also the Senior Treasurer of the Commerce Society and Vice President of the Alumni Association of the Department of Commerce. His role as an academic mentor and committee member reflects his dedication to fostering student success.
Sachin also has a strong commitment to community service, participating as a resource person and adjudicator in various training programs and competitions. He has organized and participated in numerous outreach activities, including leadership training programs for school prefects and leadership campaigns.
Sachin has represented Sri Lanka in several international conferences and programs, such as the Commonwealth Future Leaders Program in South Africa (2020) and the International Conference on Business Management in Australia (2019). His involvement in global platforms underscores his commitment to academic excellence and international collaboration. While Sachin is known for his drive, enthusiasm, and initiative. He excels under pressure, maintaining a high level of organization and diligence. His excellent communication skills, both written and oral, complement his professional and academic capabilities.

Technology is growing at an explosive rate and forms the core of smart city operations. The integration of values and culture breathes life into a city, creating vibrant and cohesive communities capable of withstanding modern-day challenges Sachin Wijayasinghe is a highly motivated individual with a strong academic background and a wealth of extracurricular experiences. Sachin is a passionate sporting athlete whose passion for sports goes beyond competition. He is also an advocate for using sports to promote social change. He is a natural leader, volunteer, and communicator who has held many roles and shouldered numerous responsibilities, including several high-profile events such as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2013) and the Commonwealth Futures Program 2020. He is a passionate researcher of development economics, focusing on both rural and urban development. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format.
