Student Engagement Session on RICS Pathways

The Department of Estate Management and Valuation successfully organised a student engagement session on RICS Pathways, with particular emphasis on the Valuation and Commercial Real Estate pathways. The session was conducted by the RICS APAC team, in collaboration with RICS Sri Lanka and RICS MEG Sri Lanka, highlighting the strong partnership between academia and the professional body.

Final-year students of the B.Sc. Honours in Real Estate Management and Valuation, together with the academic staff of the Department of Estate Management and Valuation, actively participated in this interactive and informative session. The discussion provided valuable insights into global professional pathways, competency requirements, and career development opportunities offered by RICS.

The Department was honoured by the presence and contributions of distinguished representatives from RICS, including Dr. D. Prathapasinghe, Chairman of RICS Sri Lanka; Mr. Tharaka Weragoda, Chairman of RICS MEG Sri Lanka; Mr. Ashwani Awasthi, Managing Director – RICS South Asia; Ms. Aarti Anthony, Candidate & Early Years Engagement Specialist – RICS; Ms. Sheetal Aneja, Member Engagement Lead – APAC, RICS; and Ms. Archana Dutt, Senior Manager – Early Years and Candidate Engagement. Their expertise and engagement enriched the session and provided students with first-hand perspectives on professional practice and international standards.

The session also featured a constructive dialogue on how RICS can further support the professional development of students, strengthening their transition from academia to industry and enhancing their global career prospects. The Department extends its sincere appreciation to the RICS team for their continued commitment to nurturing future professionals in the real estate and valuation disciplines.
