Overview

The Centre for Real Estate Studies, Department of Estate Management and Valuation (CRES – EMV) was established in 2016 as the research arm of the department. The purpose of establishing  CRES is to participate and contribute to the growing local and global research agenda in real estate and to bridge the gap between academic theory and practice in the sector. CRES is a non‐profit making organization in which any surplus is used to support further research and education in the Centre and the Department.

 

Goal of CRES

To encourage research and publications in the relevant fields, consultancy in real estate projects and enhance human capital through training and development in real estate management and valuation.

 

Key Services offered by CRES

Provide training upon requests from public/private and professional institutes

Conduct surveys and research at the request of public/private and professional institutes

 Undertake consultancies for public/private and professional institutes

 Publish research papers, data profiles, textbooks and news bulletins

 Collect and retrieve data bases in Real Estate.

 

CRES Activities Over the Past Years  

Referred Journal:

Sri Lankan Journal of Real Estate

This is a refereed journal published by the CRES biannually (July and December). Papers received on or before 15th of March and 15th of October in every year are considered for the publication of the year. The CRES and the Editorial Board reserve the right to determine the format and the style of the journal. Each prospective article is subjected to a blind review. CRES commits to publish only the original contribution to the field by respective authors.

Land Acquisition Act and Rating Valuation – 2018

This CPD programme was organized for the academic staff members of the Department of Estate Management and Valuation. It was conducted by Senior Lecturer, Mr. H.M. Premathilaka as a three days programme with15 hour workshop

 

Capacity Building Programmes for professionals

Real Estate Valuation – 2018

This training programme was held for Revenue Officers covering Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provincial Councils from July to September in 2018. It was a 50 hours training programme regarding all the areas and aspects of Real Estate Valuation.
