DEMV Students Explore Development Potential of Galle Multimodal Centre Site

As part of the academic activities of the B.Sc. (Honours) in Real Estate Management and Valuation degree programme, the Department of Estate Management and Valuation organized a field visit for third-year undergraduate students to the proposed Galle Multimodal Centre.

The visit provided students with an opportunity to critically examine the development potential of the site within the context of real estate market dynamics. Students assessed key factors such as regional and local market conditions, locational attributes, accessibility and mobility considerations, and stakeholder perspectives. As part of the field-based learning component, students also conducted a perception survey to capture insights from the surrounding community and relevant stakeholders.

The Centre for Real Estate Studies, Department of Estate Management and Valuation played a significant role in supporting the visit by coordinating external resource persons, whose professional expertise offered valuable insights into multimodal transport infrastructure, urban development, and planning considerations. Their contribution enhanced the practical relevance of the learning experience and strengthened the linkage between academic study and industry practice.
