Evaluation of the Real Estate Project – Third-Year Undergraduates

The Department of Estate Management and Valuation successfully concluded the Real Estate Project of the third-year undergraduate students, conducted under the guidance and supervision of the academic staff of the Department. This capstone academic exercise reflects the Department’s continued commitment to delivering practice-oriented and industry-relevant learning experiences.

This year, the project focused on the theme of Experience Tourism, with Anuradhapura selected as the case study area. A total of seven student groups actively participated, presenting diverse, innovative, and context-sensitive proposals on how Anuradhapura could be developed and positioned as a distinctive experience tourism destination. The proposals demonstrated strong analytical thinking, creativity, and an integrated understanding of real estate, planning, and tourism development.

The Department was pleased to note the valuable engagement of the Urban Development Authority (UDA), with members of the senior management team participating in the evaluation process. Their professional insights and constructive feedback significantly enhanced the practical relevance of the project and provided students with exposure to real-world perspectives and industry expectations.

The project was coordinated by Snr. Prof. K. G. P. K. Weerakoon, whose leadership, academic guidance, and continuous support were instrumental in the successful completion of this academic initiative.

The Department extends its warm congratulations to all students and academic staff for their dedication, collaboration, and outstanding efforts in delivering a meaningful and impactful learning experience that bridges theory and professional practice.
