Nature Study Drawing Workshop at Viharamahadevi Park: Enhancing the Observational Sketching Skills of DEMV Undergraduates

On 17th March 2025, the second-year undergraduates of the B.Sc. Honours in Real Estate Management and Valuation degree program participated in a Nature Study Drawing Workshop at Viharamahadevi Park. This one-day, three-hour session was conducted as part of their coursework for EMV 2172: Property Drawing and Documentation I.

A Hands-On Learning Experience

The workshop provided students with an immersive experience in observational sketching, allowing them to refine their ability to capture natural elements such as trees, leaves, and ground textures. By closely studying their surroundings, students gained valuable insights into perspective, proportion, and detailing, which are essential skills in property documentation and real estate visualization.

Skill Development Through Art

This interactive session encouraged students to enhance their freehand drawing techniques, develop a keen eye for detail, and build confidence in translating real-world landscapes into sketches. While some students readily embraced the challenge, others focused on improving their technique and concentration, making this an enriching experience for all participants.

The Nature Study Drawing Workshop was a meaningful step in bridging creativity with technical expertise, reinforcing the importance of visual representation in real estate studies.
