Shaping the Image of a Heritage Capital: DEMV Students Conduct Survey Tour in Anuradhapura

Third-year students of the B.Sc. Honours in Real Estate Management & Valuation programme of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura recently carried out a two-day field visit to Anuradhapura on August 22nd and 23rd, as part of their Real Estate Project (Part III).

Under the theme “Shaping the Image of a Heritage Capital: Stakeholder Insights from Anuradhapura,” the students conducted a comprehensive perception survey to explore how Anuradhapura can be positioned as a destination city for both local and international tourists.

The study was conducted in collaboration with the Urban Development Authority and included focus group discussions with a wide range of stakeholders, including government officials, private sector representatives, foreign visitors, local tourists, and residents of Anuradhapura.

The findings are expected to provide valuable insights into strengthening Anuradhapura’s image as Sri Lanka’s premier heritage capital. The outcomes of the project will be formally presented at the upcoming International Conference on Real Estate Management and Valuation 2025, offering important recommendations for tourism development and urban planning in the historic city.
