Site Visit to Kurunegala: Real Estate Students Gain Practical Insights into Construction
Second-year students of the B.Sc. (Hons) in Real Estate Management and Valuation at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura recently participated in a valuable field visit to an active industrial construction site in Kurunegala, reinforcing the programme’s commitment to experiential learning.
The visit was organized as part of the Building Construction module, enabling students to witness real-world applications of the theories and concepts they study in class. On-site, students had the opportunity to observe the construction schedule in action, understand different phases of the building process, and engage with professionals involved in the project.
By directly interacting with the structural and logistical elements of the construction process, students gained practical insights into topics such as site preparation, foundation work, structural systems, and project timelines. This hands-on exposure helps bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice—an essential aspect of training future real estate professionals.
The Department of Estate Management and Valuation continues to integrate industry exposure into its curriculum, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to navigate the technical and practical demands of the real estate and construction sectors.
