Third-Year Students Explore Ella: Field Project on Tourism Potential and Spatial Challenges

The third-year undergraduates of the B.Sc. in Real Estate Management and Valuation degree program, of the Department of Estate Management and Valuation, participated in a one-day field project in Ella Town on 16th October 2024. The project focused on developing a tourist-related property information system, analyzing the true tourism potential of the town, and addressing unresolved spatial challenges as part of their coursework in EMV 3478: Urban and Regional Planning and Studio Work II, and EMV 3377: Real Estate Development and Management. The students gained invaluable experience working with various GIS (Geographic Information Systems) applications and a pre-designed surveying app integrated with ArcGIS Pro. The Ella Pradeshiya Sabha provided essential support in facilitating data collection.
