Considering significant growth in the tourism industry, As a pioneer department of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, by understanding the ground realities,trends, opportunities and the expectations of tourism industry, the Department of Marketing Management created a smooth platform in order to fill up the unfilled gaps of the Sri Lankan higher education system.Accordingly, B.Sc. Marketing management (Tourism and Hospitality management) Special degree program was proposed to the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce.With the prime objective of creating successful degree program while assisting undergraduate to be fully equipped with knowledge and skills “Curriculum Review Industry Discussion – Proposed B.Sc. Marketing management (Tourism and Hospitality management) Special degree”organized by the Department of Marketing Management of University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
The Industry Discussion was held on 30th September 2016 at University of Sri Jayewardenepura with the presence of former Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau Dr.Rohantha Athukorala, Mr.Dileepa Mudadeniya, Head of brand Marketing – Cinnamon Hotels &Resorts,Vice President- John Keels Group , Mr. Isanka P. Gamage, Director ,TIIKM (Pvt.) Ltd, Mr.Udara Guruge, Assistant Director – Media, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.The Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce Dr.U.Anura Kumara, the Head of the Department of Marketing Management Dr.Lalith chandralal and academic members of department of marketing management.
