Scope
The Undergraduate Research Symposium is organized by the Department of Marketing Management with the steering intention of providing a platform for the students to showcase their capability in conducting a research to their peers, junior students, academics, and the corporate sector.
History
The inaugural Undergraduate Research Day was held on the 27th of November in 2018 with twenty-one research studies being presented. The 2nd Undergraduate Research Symposium was successfully held on the 14th of January 2020 at the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. The selected eighteen research studies were presented by the Undergraduates of the Department. The 3rd Undergraduate Research Symposium was successfully held on the 06th of April 2021 both on the physical and virtual platform. The selected twenty-five research studies were presented under three main tracks, namely, Services, Food and Agriculture, Digital Marketing, and Social and Sustainability Marketing.
Process
Extended abstracts relevant to the presented papers were published as proceedings by the Department each year. Such extended abstracts are selected after reviewing them for rigor. The selected studies had comprehensively investigated the current and critical real-world scenarios based on theoretical frameworks and recommendations made for the corporate sector and policymakers employing various research methodologies. Such studies are conducted by the undergraduates of the Department as their final year research dissertation.
The 2nd and the 3rd Symposium are funded by the AHEAD ELTA-ELSE Project of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
