Research Day 2018

The Department of Marketing Management in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura organized its inaugural Research Day on 27th Nov 2018 at the University premises as a milestone in its journey of moulding the graduates to act as Catalyst in the corporate sector and in the society. The purpose of the Research Day is to provide a platform for the final year undergraduates to showcase their capability in conducting a research to their peers, junior students and academics. Twenty one research papers, co-authored by the final year students and the respective supervisors, were presented and all the abstracts were published as a proceeding book (ISSN 2659-2142). The presented research papers were selected based on their rigor and they were reviewed by the academics of the Department. The published studies have comprehensively investigated current and critical real world scenarios based on theoretical frameworks and implications are discussed for the corporate and public sector and the policy makers employing various research methods. These studies were in diverse specialization areas in marketing, namely, consumer behaviour, marketing communication, services marketing, sustainability marketing, digital marketing, and hospitality.
Dean of the Faculty, Dr. U. Anura Kumara, Director of the Faculty Research Centre, Prof. Y. K. Weerakoon Banda, Head of the Department, Dr. Lalith Chandrala, Heads of the other Departments in the Faculty, all the academics of the Department participated for the event by gracing the same. Students representing the Year II, Year III, and Year IV made the event live and interactive.
This inaugural step certainly sets an example for the junior batches of the Department while inculcating the research culture. It should also be noted that this endeavor connotes the beginning of series of research outputs that the Department whishes to publish annually with the completion of the final year research dissertations of the students.
