Daraz Field Visit – 2026

Daraz Field Visit – 2026

On March 13th, 2026, third-year undergraduate students of the Department of Commerce along with two lecturers from the department had an insightful field visit to Daraz, an e-commerce giant, to explore their warehouse and sorting centre operations as components for the Sustainable Commerce subject module.

In the morning, students toured the Daraz warehouse in Peliyagoda, where they observed the meticulous inventory management and storage practices that ensured efficient handling and dispatch of products. The warehouse team explained their advanced logistics system, which optimises space and accelerates order fulfilment.

In the afternoon, the students visited the Daraz sorting centre in Grandpass, Colombo 04, where they learned about the sophisticated sorting processes that categorise and prepare packages for delivery. The visit highlighted the integration of technology and sustainable practices in e-commerce logistics, providing our students with a comprehensive understanding of the backend operations that support a leading online retail platform. This practical exposure was invaluable for grasping the real-world applications of sustainable commerce principles.
