AGM of Alumni Association of Department of Commerce (AADOC)

The first AGM of the AADOC took place on May 20th, 2023, at Prof. K A Munasignha Hall, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, coinciding with the Department of Commerce’s 50th Anniversary. Members of alumane from the inaugural batch of 1973 to the recently graduated batch of 2022, participated in the first AGM both in person and virtually. Mr. Imran Nafeer was elected as the first President, and Ms. Sanjila Thilini Abeysinghe became the Secretary of the Alumni Association. The Vice Presidents include Mr. Nihal Thalduwa, Mr. Athula Nandasiri, Mr. Sachin Wijayasinghe, and Mr. Gamini Alwis. Professor Dileepa Samudrage and Ms. Tiffany Sandanayaka were elected as Vice Secretaries, and Mr. Amesh Pathirana was appointed as the Treasurer. Professor Hilary Silva, Dr. Ayoma Sumanasiri, and Dr. Vilani Sachithra were appointed as Advisors to the Alumni Association.

The Alumni Association aims to foster a strong bond among alumni, promote mutual understanding, preserve the department’s identity and traditions, support studies and research in the field of commerce, and organize practical training programs for undergraduates of the department. The AGM marked a significant milestone for the Alumni Association, and the elected leadership and appointed advisors will work towards achieving the association’s objectives.
