AMITY 2020 – Orientation Programme for First Year Undergraduates
Second year undergraduates of the Department of Commerce organised the orientation programme “AMITY 2020” for first year undergraduates of the Department on 26th February 2020 at Munasinghe Hall. The main intention of the programme was to inspire the first year undergraduates towards the value of their degree and the university life. The inspiration discussion was conducted by the B.Com graduates who currently hold the managerial positions in the well-reputed organisations. Mr. Amila Madushanka – Accountant, Prima Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd; Mr. Jayanga Asiri Weerasena – Director, Asiri Group & Company; Mr. Hasitha Abeykoon – Head of Business Analytics, W.A. Perera & Company (Pvt) Ltd; and Ms. Pamuditha Nishshankage – ORACLE Functional Consultant, LOLC Technologies were participated as panelists of the discussion. Within the discussion, they shared their experiences in the university life, importance of engaging extra-curricular activities, gains obtain from B.Com (Special) degree, importance of doing professional courses, strategies follow to overcome language barriers and how to enjoy university life.
