Forging Future Pathways: USJ and Daraz Partner for Innovation and Growth

A Memorandum of Understanding is made and entered into at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on the 26th of July 2024 between Daraz and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Daraz is a company in the e-commerce business and operates the e-commerce platform through www.daraz.lk and its mobile application. FMSC and Daraz, agree to co-operate in a spirit of mutual understanding and to develop a close relationship of goodwill and fellowship. The development of cooperation between the two parties is aimed at the development of both organizations through the collaboration of academia and industry specialists. Daraz has massively contributed in shaping the course COM3373 – Sustainable Commerce offered to the Third Year students in the Department of Commerce.

The MOU was signed by Senior Professor M. M. Pathmalal (The Vice Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura), Dr. Dushan Jayawickrama (Dean-Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura), Dr. Vilani Sachitra (Head of the Department of Commerce, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura) from the university end and by Mr. Kaushal Mendis (Chief Peoples Officer), Mr. Prabuddha Batheegama (Human Resource Business Partner), Mr. Jonathan Sundersingh (Manager – Talent Acquisition) from Daraz end. Both parties are open to exploring additional areas of collaboration beyond those initially defined, recognizing the evolving nature of academia and industry partnerships.
