
Outbound Training Program – Academy of Adventure, Belihuloya
The Department successfully organized an Outbound Training (OBT) program at the Academy of Adventure, Belihuloya, on 25th and 26th October 2025, with the participation of over 100 undergraduates and academic staff members. The program was conducted as part of COM 3177: Managerial Skills Development III and was organized with the support of the Commerce Society. It was designed to enhance teamwork, leadership, communication, trust-building, and problem-solving skills through a series of structured experiential learning activities. Upon arrival, participants were welcomed by the Academy team and took part in an engaging introduction session, followed by group discussions and orientation activities.
Throughout the two days, students participated in a well-coordinated sequence of team building, trust-building, recreational, and adventure-based activities, ensuring active engagement and meaningful learning.
The key activities conducted included:
- Trust and Team-Building Exercises, such as Human Trolley and Magical Turtle, which focused on teamwork, communication, coordination, and commitment.
- Problem-Solving and Fun Activities are designed to enhance quick thinking, planning, and decision-making abilities.
- Adventurous Team-Building Activities, including Wall Climbing, Archery, Kayaking, and Zip Line (Flying Fox), which promoted self-confidence, motivation, and risk-taking.
In the evening, students gathered for a bonfire session, enjoying music, games, and interactive group activities that strengthened camaraderie. Participants were accommodated in safe and comfortable tented lodgings, enhancing the outdoor experiential environment.
The program concluded successfully, marking the completion of a well-coordinated and impactful training experience. Students returned to the university with renewed enthusiasm, strengthened interpersonal bonds, and valuable insights into teamwork and leadership. The Outbound Training Program at Belihuloya provided students with a meaningful platform to develop essential managerial and interpersonal skills in an engaging outdoor environment.
