Team from the Department crowned as National Champions at RB Global Challenge 2020

The department is delighted to announce that, our very own undergraduates Ms Aransana Mahendran, Mr Oshan Bulugahapitiya and Mr Ravindu Kulawardena formed the “Team Tycoons” who were crowned as the National champions in the recently concluded RB Global Challenge – 2020 organized by Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC. RB Global Challenge is an ideation competition that evaluates participants creativity in forming business ideas that can bring positive change to the world. In 2018 Sri Lanka became the global winner of this competition where Umendra Abeynayaka who was a member of the winning team brought immense pride to the department and for the entire country. After winning the national finale next feat for the “Team Tycoons” is to take part in the grand finale where teams across three continents and 32 market regions will take part.

The winning team was very well received by Prof. P.D. Nimal, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. Dean expressed his well wishes to the team and highlighted the importance of taking part in Global competitions as undergraduates. The newly appointed Head of the Department Dr. (Mrs) Ayoma Sumanasiri conducted a special meeting amidst the pandemic situation to appreciate the efforts of the undergraduates and was extremely proud to have a team from the Department representing the country at the Global finale where the dates are yet to be announced. We as the Department is proud of their achievement and looking forward to a spectacular performance at the Global Finale.
