Expanding Global Horizons: International Expertise Enriches M.Sc. Real Estate Programme

The M.Sc. in Real Estate Management and Valuation programme at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura continues to strengthen its global footprint through international academic collaborations. In its latest initiative, the programme welcomed Prof. Khairudin Halim from the Faculty of Built Environment, Universiti Malaya as a Visiting Lecturer.

Prof. Halim contributed to the Plant and Machinery Valuation module, delivering a series of highly engaging sessions that offered both theoretical insights and practical applications. His lectures focused on valuation techniques for specialized assets, including palm oil plants and airport facilities, drawing from real-world case studies and his international professional experience.

Students benefited immensely from the global perspectives he introduced—especially on how International Valuation Standards (IVS) and RICS Global Valuation Standards are applied in the context of Plant and Machinery Valuation. These sessions equipped students with a more comprehensive and internationally aligned understanding of valuation practices.

This collaborative engagement reflects the programme’s commitment to delivering high-quality, globally relevant education in real estate and valuation, preparing students to meet the demands of an increasingly interconnected world.

The Department of Estate Management and Valuation expresses its sincere appreciation to Prof. Halim for his invaluable contribution and looks forward to continued partnerships that enhance academic excellence and professional relevance.
