Undergraduates Gain Hands-on Experience in Industrial Property Valuation

The Department of Estate Management and Valuation organized a field visit for third-year undergraduate students of the B.Sc. (Honours) in Real Estate Management and Valuation degree programme, under the EMV 3474 – Advanced Valuation course, focusing on industrial property valuation. The visit was conducted at the Industrial Estate – Templeburg, Homagama.

This field-based learning activity was designed to provide students with practical exposure to real-world valuation practices within an industrial context. Through on-site observation and data collection, students were able to develop a deeper understanding of the physical, functional, and locational attributes that influence the valuation of industrial properties.

The experience enabled students to effectively connect theoretical concepts with practical applications, enhancing their analytical thinking and professional judgment in valuation practice. Such engagement with real-world settings plays a significant role in preparing students for the complexities of the real estate and valuation profession.
