Commemorative Stamp to Celebrate 50th Anniversary of B.Sc. Estate Management and Valuation Degree Programme

In a momentous celebration of academic achievement over 50 years, the launching ceremony of the Special Stamp for the 50th anniversary of the B.Sc. Honours in Real Estate Management and Valuation was a resounding success. Held on 26th September 2023 at Sapphire Hall, BMICH, this event brought together alumni, faculty, students, and distinguished guests to commemorate a remarkable journey of academic excellence.

The B.Sc. Honours in Real Estate Management and Valuation Degree program is multifaceted, focusing on three core disciplines: Real Estate Valuation, Property Management, and Urban and Regional Planning. Its inception dates back to 1972 when it was initially known as the Bachelor of Science (Special) in Estate Management and Valuation Degree program at the University of Colombo. Subsequently, in 1973, it transferred to the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The centerpiece of the ceremony was the unveiling of the Special Stamp, a symbol of half a century of dedication to real estate education. This stamp, more than just a piece of paper, encapsulates the spirit of innovation, integrity, and academic excellence that has defined the program for five decades. The event was graced by the Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, Senior Professor (Chair) Sampath Amaratunga, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Dr. Dushan Jayawickrama, Head of the Department of Estate Management and Valuation, Dr. Prathap Kaluthanthri, Snr Prof. R G Ariywansa and academic members of the department other esteemed academic staff members of the faculty and university, distinguished alumni members and industry partners along with officials of Department of Post and Philatelic Bureau of Sri Lanka.
