Exploring Real Estate Development and Urban Communities

Year III Undergraduates of the B.Sc. Estate Management and Valuation (Honours) degree program engaged on a field exercise to gain a better understanding of the : imageability of cities, real estate development, urban communities, and real estate technologies. During their visit, students explored various locations, including the Sri Jayewardenepura administrative capital, the Arcade Independence Square, the Havelock Residence, Mireka Tower, and Havelock Shopping Center, as well as Colombo’s Laksetha Sewana, Applewatta, and Lotus Tower urban regeneration projects. The students express their gratitude to Dr. Senaka Dharmatilleke, Havelock City’s Chief Architect, Mr. Lasath Fernando, Manager of Security and Safety, Havelock City, Planner E. A. C. Priyashantha, Acting Deputy Director General, Real Estate and Land Management, Urban Development Authority, and Mr. Hiran, Field officer, Urban Development Authority, for their valuable contributions to the success of the field exercise, which took place on 31st March 2023.
