Site Visit to FMSC faculty building ICC Construction Site with Year II and III Undergraduates
Progressing construction site visit was organized for the Year II and III Undergraduates of B.Sc. Estate Management and Valuation (Special) Degree was successfully held from 08th November at FMSC new faculty building ICC site at University of Sri Jayewardenepura premises under strict health and safety guidelines. The purpose of this drill was to give addition exposure to students to obtain knowledge and experience from a live construction site. Around 120 students in groups and five academic staff members including Dr C D Udawatthe, Senior Lecturer and subject coordinator from the Department of Estate Management and Valuation participated to the visit.
Students were also given the task of gathering information from the ongoing construction site, such as the general scope of the project, the number of amenities, the number of students on the floor space, and so on. Stakeholder analysis of the construction project Organization break down structure (OBS) of the ICC construction project management team working at the University, in order to investigate the project team members’ communication channels and command channels, as well as the site’s building material management. First ICC project management team conducted a comprehensive presentation about the ICC construction management procedure and then students visited the site. It was a wonderful experience given to students during and after severe locked down periods.
