
3rd Undergraduate Research Symposium, DMM, FMSC,USJ
The Department of Marketing Management in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura organized its 3rd Undergraduate Research Symposium on 6th April 2021 at the University premises and via virtual platform. The Symposium is funded by the AHEAD project of the Faculty. The purpose of the Research Symposium is to provide a platform for the students to showcase their capability in conducting a research to their peers, junior students, academics and to the corporate sector.
Ms. Himalee Madhurasinghe, CEO, Kantar LMRB made the key note speech of the symposium by sharing valuable market information and latest trends in market research while highlighting the significance of interpreting and using the research findings
for the betterment of the companies and the nation. Twenty five research papers, co-authored by the final year students and the respective supervisors, were presented and all the extended abstracts were published as a proceeding book. The presented research papers were selected based on their theoretical rigor and empirical value after reviewing them. The published studies have
comprehensively investigated current and critical real world scenarios based on theoretical frameworks and implications are discussed for the corporate sector, policy makers and public, employing various research methodologies. These studies were in diverse specialization areas in marketing, namely, consumer behaviour, marketing communication, services marketing,
sustainability marketing, digital marketing, and hospitality; and presented in three tracks, namely, Services, Sustainability and Digital. Each of these tracks was chaired by both academic scholars and practitioners from the relevant industries. Rohini Samarasighe, Prof. Amila Jayarathne, Asso. Prof. Asoka Malkanthie, Dr. Lalith Chandralal, Dr. Dushan Chaminda, and Dr. Sandamali Galdolage.
Dean of the Faculty, Prof. P. D. Nimal, Director of the AHEAD of the University, Dr. Kalum Gamage, Director of the Faculty Research Centre, Dr. Lalith Chandralal, Head of the Department, Prof. Amila Jayarathne, Heads of the other Departments in the Faculty, all the academics of the Department, and delegates from the corporate sector graced the event. Students of the Department representing the Year II, Year III, and Year IV made the event live and interactive.
