Guest lecture on “Academic and Professional Writing”

The Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully conducted a guest lecture titled “Academic and Professional Writing” for the benefit of its second-year undergraduate students.

The session was delivered by Senior Professor Kaushalya Yatigammana from the Department of Commerce & Financial Management, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Professor Yatigammana is a distinguished academic with extensive experience in higher education, research, and scholarly writing, and has made significant contributions to the development of academic competencies among university students.

The event was attended by academic staff members of the Department of Accounting along with second-year undergraduate students.

The session focused on enhancing students’ academic and professional writing capabilities, emphasizing essential skills such as structuring academic work, maintaining clarity and coherence, adhering to ethical writing practices, and developing professional communication standards required for academic and career success. The interactive nature of the lecture provided students with valuable practical insights to strengthen their writing proficiency.
