Who Could Apply?

Eligibility requirements and criteria for enrolment.

Applicants who possess one of the following minimum qualifications and good knowledge of English are eligible to apply for the MSc. degree program. 

  1. Bachelor’s Honours / Special (SLQF 6) with a class standing in Management and Management related discipline from a recognized University. 
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5) with a First Class or Second

Class (Upper Division) standing in Management and

Management related discipline from a recognized University. 

  • A Bachelor’s Honours/ Special Degree (SLQF 6) in Management and Management related discipline from a recognized University with one-year post-qualifying experience in the relevant field. 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5) in Management and Management related discipline from a recognized University with two years post qualifying experience

  • A Bachelor’s Honours/ Special Degree (SLQF 6) in any other discipline with a class standing from a recognized University with one-years post-qualifying experience. 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (SLQF 5) in any other discipline with a class standing from a recognized University with two-years post qualifying experience. 

  • A Degree (SLQF 5 or SLQF 6) in any other discipline from a recognized University with three-years post-qualifying experience. 

  • Postgraduate Diploma not less than one year or equivalent to SLQF 8 in Management and Management related discipline from a recognized University. 

  • A Postgraduate Certificate not less than one year or equivalent to SLQF 7 in Management and Management related discipline from a recognized University with one year post qualifying relevant experience. 

  • A Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma not less than one year or equivalent to SLQF 8 or SLQF 7 in any other discipline from a recognized University with two years relevant experience.  11. Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technical Education (SLIATE) – Higher National Diploma in Accountancy (HNDA) – four year course 

  • (SLIATE) – Higher National Diploma in Management / Commerce (HNDC) – three year course 

  • Completion of NVQ Level 07 (B. Tech) 

  • Any other professional qualifications not included above could be considered subject to the approval of the University Senate.

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure consists of the following steps:

  1. The study program will be advertised in the print media and the university website of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
  2. Online applications could be accessed via: https://pcbs.mgt.sjp.ac.lk/newreg/index.php
  3. Applications received will be initially screened to assess whether the minimum entry qualifications are met.
  4. The screened candidates will have to face an interview, in which their general knowledge, intelligence, and proficiency in the English Language will be assessed.

Interviews are conducted in the following manner.

  • One to one interview is conducted for those who have duly filled applications and fulfilled the basic eligibility criteria
  • There is no examination held to screen students.
  • Interview panel will consist of a minimum of three faculty members with the designation of senior lecturer grade 1 or above.
  • Interview criteria include mental capacity health to pursue a post graduate study, communication skills, analytical skills, presentation skills, motivation for research, financial ability to continue the degree. A marking scheme is developed for 100 marks referring to the above interview criteria by allocating equal marks. The pass mark for a candidate to follow the degree program is the average 50% from all panel members.
