Guest Lecture on Practical considerations in conducting Cost-Benefit Analysis for large-scale projects in Sri Lanka
Large-scale investment projects are pivotal in developing the required capital for a nation and are vital to achieving sustained economic growth for any developing country. However, such investments need to be critically evaluated based on the potential benefits and costs they may have.
To give a practical perspective in this regard, the Department of Business Economics invited the apex body responsible for directing such investments in Sri Lanka, the Board of Investment, to conduct a guest lecture on the topic of “Practical considerations in conducting Cost-Benefit Analysis for large-scale projects in Sri Lanka.“
This lecture which was conducted by Mr. G.R.C Gamlath (Senior Deputy Director – Investment Appraisal) of the Board of the Investment of Sri Lanka, was successfully held on Thursday, 20th of January, 2022, from 8.30 A.M. onwards, via zoom. This expert session managed to open a productive discussion for the students to reflect upon and improve on their knowledge.
The lecture was conducted to the second-year undergraduates of the Department as a part of the Course Unit BEC 2344: Advanced Economic Theory. We would like to thank all well-wishers who supported us in providing this valuable experience to our students.
