
Workshop on ‘Role of Central Bank in Sri Lanka’ – 2024
The Department of Business Economics, in collaboration with the Centre for Banking Studies (CBS) of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, organised a two-day workshop on “The Role of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka” for the undergraduates of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura on 11th and 12th December 2024. This workshop was aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the practical functions and responsibilities of the Central Bank within the financial system.
The program covered a wide range of topics, including the regulatory framework for banking and non-banking financial institutions, developments in payment and settlement systems, virtual currencies, monetary policy implementation, and international reserve management. It also explored the critical roles of the Currency Department and the Financial Intelligence Unit in combating financial crimes. Esteemed resource persons from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka shared valuable insights, bridging theoretical knowledge with industry practices.
