Beyond Borders: Unlocking Global Careers
The Department of Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura recently held an engaging online session focused on “Global Careers” for final-year commerce students, conducted in partnership with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura Alumni Association of New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Inc on 17th September 2024. This collaborative initiative aimed to prepare undergraduates for international career paths, giving them insights into global employment opportunities.
The session featured two esteemed alumni who brought a wealth of professional knowledge and real-world experience. Dr. Nimal Edirisinghe, an Attorney-at-Law, Visting Lecturer at Sydney Business School and IT Finance Specialist with the Australian Securities and Investment Commission, shared his extensive expertise in law, finance, and technology integration within a regulatory context. Mr. Nimal Rathnayaka, the Financial Controller at Greenway Banks Group, Australia, and a Visiting Lecturer at Macquarie University, brought a comprehensive view from the perspective of corporate finance and management.
Together, the resource persons created an enriching dialogue, addressing student queries and sharing personal experiences that illuminated diverse global career paths. This session reinforced the Department of Commerce’s dedication to supporting students’ professional journeys and fostering connections that bridge educational experiences with real-world opportunities on an international scale.
