COM 3373: Sustainable Commerce – Industry Experience Sharing Sessions
On Thursday, 29th January 2026, from 9.30 AM to 11.30 AM, an Industry Experience Sharing Session was conducted for third-year undergraduates of the Sustainable Commerce (COM 3373) course. The session was delivered by Mr. Charith Nilaweera, Assistant Manager – Marketing at Richard Pieris Exports PLC, on the theme “Green Consumer Behaviour and Marketing in Sri Lanka.”
This session provided students with valuable exposure to local industry perspectives, bridging theoretical understanding of sustainable commerce with practical applications in consumer markets.
Guest Lecture on “Critical Challenges for Making Sustainability a Reality”
On Thursday, 12th February 2026, from 8.00 AM to 12.00 Noon, a guest lecture was organized for third-year undergraduates of the Sustainable Commerce (COM 3373) course. The session was conducted by Mr. Kamal Wimalaratne, Director/CEO of Hayleys Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd. and CEO of Unisyst Engineering Ltd.
The lecture addressed two critical themes:
- Critical Challenges for Making Sustainability a Reality – highlighting barriers and practical considerations in embedding sustainability into business operations.
- Strategic Change for Sustainability – focusing on organizational transformation, leadership, and long-term strategies required to achieve sustainable outcomes.
This session provided students with valuable industry perspectives, linking theoretical concepts of sustainability with real-world challenges and strategic solutions in the corporate sector.
Sessions Conducted by Daraz
A series of three industry-focused sessions were conducted by Daraz for third-year undergraduates of the Sustainable Commerce (COM 3373) course to cover the E-commerce module. All sessions were coordinated by Mr. Kannan Periyasami who is the Manager- Talent Acquisition at Daraz.
- 05th February 2026 (8.00 AM – 12.00 Noon): Transition from Traditional Business to E-Commerce and E-Business – exploring the shift from conventional business models to digital platforms. This session was delivered by Mr. Zoher Alibhoy, The Head of FMCG at Daraz (Alibaba Group).
- 26th February 2026 (8.00 AM – 12.00 Noon): The Evolution of Revenue Models in E-Commerce, Payment Systems, and Legal Aspects – examining diverse revenue streams, digital payment innovations, and regulatory frameworks. This session was delivered by Mr. Shehan Randika Perera, The Senior Manager at Daraz Sri Lanka (Alibaba Group).
- 12th March 2026 (8.00 AM – 12.00 Noon): Strategic Integration of E-Commerce and E-Business and Strategic Use of Supply Chain and E-Logistics Management – highlighting advanced strategies for digital integration and efficient logistics in online commerce. These sessions provided students with comprehensive exposure to the practical dynamics of e-commerce, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications in digital business transformation, revenue innovation, and supply chain management. This session was delivered by Mr. Piratab Muthiah, from Daraz.
