Felicitation Ceremony for Ms. Melanie Janine Kanaka, President, Chartered Institute of Management Accounts ( CIMA)
The Department of Commerce organized a felicitation ceremony on May 29, 2023, to honor the exceptional achievements of Ms. Melanie Janine Kanaka, the President of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). The event brought together esteemed guests, including Senior professors, Professors, and other faculty members, Heads of the Departments of FMSC, alumni, and undergraduates of the Department of Commerce, and prominent individuals from the professional accounting community. All the guests were warmly welcomed by the Head of the Department of Commerce, Dr. Ayoma Sumanasiri. Inspiring speeches were delivered by distinguished personalities such as Prof. Upul Subasinghe (Acting Vice-Chancellor-USJ), Dr. J.W. Dushan Chaminda (Dean – FMSC, USJ), and Ms. Zahara Ansary (Country Manager. AICPA & CIMA Sri Lanka and Maldives), highlighting Ms. Kanaka, remarkable journey and accomplishments. The ceremony also provided an opportunity for the Department of Commerce to extend their support and express their gratitude to Ms. Kanaka for her outstanding contributions to the field of management accounting. Citation of the felicitation delivered by Mr. Sachin Wijayasinghe, Lecturer (Prob), Vice-President, Alumni Association of Department of Commerce. As a token of appreciation, a special memento was presented to Ms. Kanaka, symbolizing the deep admiration and respect held for her achievements. Vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Ravindu Kulawardene, Lecturer (Prob) of the Department of Commerce.
