
Guest Lecture on The Future of Accounting – Transformation of the Profession
The Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully conducted a guest lecture on “The Future of Accounting – Transformation of the Profession” on 26 January 2026, in partnership with CPA Australia, for the benefit of its undergraduate students.
The session was delivered by Professor Dale Pinto, John Curtin University Distinguished Professor and President and Chair of the Board of CPA Australia. The lecture focused on the evolving role of the accounting profession in a rapidly changing global environment, highlighting future skills, professional transformation, and emerging opportunities for aspiring accountants.
The event was attended by representatives from CPA Australia—Mr. Jatin Sharma (Regional Manager – Middle East and South Asia), Mr. Don Poh (Business Development Manager – South Asia), and Mrs. Pramudi Nanayakkara (Business Development Manager – Sri Lanka)—along with Professor Rukmal Weerasinghe, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Professor Dileepa Samudrage, Head of the Department of Accounting, members of the academic staff of the department, and undergraduate students.
The session provided valuable professional insights to students, helping them better understand the future direction of the accounting profession and prepare for the evolving demands of the corporate world.
