Guest lecture on “Transformation in Accounting Profession, Mindset-Change and Enabling Skills”

The Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully conducted a guest lecture titled “Transformation in Accounting Profession, Mindset-Change and Enabling Skills” for the benefit of its undergraduate students.

The session was delivered by Mr. Indika Premathunga, Director and Co-Founder of Insureme – Insurance Brokers PLC and a proud alumnus of the Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he served as a C-suite leader in the insurance industry, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of AIA Insurance Lanka PLC, and previously as Chief Financial Officer of Union Assurance PLC. He is also the co-founder of InsureMe, 360 Leisure, and the Ocean Maritime Group of companies.

The event was attended by Senior Professor Samanthi Senarathne, along with other lecturers of the Department of Accounting and undergraduate students.

The lecture drew on Mr. Premathunga’s extensive industry experience, international exposure, and leadership journey, emphasizing the importance of mindset change, professional ethics, and enabling skills required to succeed in today’s evolving accounting profession.
