
Guest Lecture on “Emotional Intelligence”
The Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, successfully conducted a guest lecture titled “Emotional Intelligence” for the benefit of its undergraduate students.
The session was delivered by Ms. Dilmi Weerasinghe, Founder of Serenity Well-being, who is a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Practitioner, Licensed Psychological Counselor, and Psychotherapist with over 15 years of professional experience. Notably, she is also a proud alumna of the Department of Accounting, University of Sri Jayewardenepura .
The event was attended by academic staff members of the Department of Accounting along with undergraduate students.
During the session, Ms. Dilmi shared valuable insights into emotional intelligence, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and mindfulness in both personal and professional contexts. She also highlighted practical strategies for managing stress, maintaining work-life balance, and navigating high-pressure environments effectively. Drawing from her extensive experience working with leading corporate organizations and individuals, she provided real-world applications that are highly relevant to today’s dynamic business environment.
The lecture enabled students to understand the critical role of emotional intelligence in building strong interpersonal relationships, enhancing decision-making, and achieving long-term career success.
