Congratulations to Prof. Ananda Rathnayake

Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Ananda Rathnayake on being promoted to the Professorship at the Department of Business Economics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ).

Dr. Rathnayake earned his Bachelor of Arts (Special) Degree in Business Statistics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2004. He then pursued a Master in Economics at the University of Colombo in 2009 and later obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Colombo in 2018, specializing in the technical and allocative efficiency of paddy farming in Sri Lanka.

His teaching spans Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Monetary Economics, and Econometrics, while his research interests include agricultural economics, poverty alleviation, macroeconomic policy, stock market volatility, economic development, and international trade and finance.

Professor Rathnayake has made extensive contributions to academia as an author of numerous peer-reviewed publications and as an editor and reviewer for leading academic journals. He is also a prolific writer, with several books on economics and development published in 2024. Through his scholarship and dedication, he continues to make a lasting impact on the fields of economics and policy.
