Congratulations to Prof. Janaka Fernando

Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Janaka Fernando on being promoted to the Professorship at the Department of Business Economics, University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ). Dr. Fernando earned his first degree, B.Sc. in Business Administration (Business Economics) (Special), from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2006. He further pursued postgraduate qualifications, completing a Masters in Economics at the University of Colombo in 2010 and a Master of International Development Studies at GRIPS, Japan, in 2012. Advancing his academic career, he obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in International Development from Nagoya University, Japan, in 2019.

Alongside his academic work, Dr. Fernando has contributed to the professional field as a Consultant in Business Economics and Market Research at JAAR Corporate Solutions and as an Impact Evaluation Specialist/Economist for KPMG Sri Lanka, where he worked on projects with the Asian Development Bank. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Business Economics and the Director of the Postgraduate Centre for Business Studies of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce at USJ. Through his leadership, teaching, research, and professional engagements, Professor Fernando continues to make a significant contribution to academia, policy, and practice in the fields of economics and development.
