
Department of Business Economics, FMSC, USJ Hosts Lecture on Kinesics in Management
On September 11, 2024, the Department of Business Economics, under the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC) at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, organized an insightful lecture on Kinesics in Management. The event, held in the university’s lecture hall, featured Major M.H.M.S Bandara Lsc from the Directorate of Media as the keynote speaker.
The lecture offered a deep dive into the vital role of kinesics—body language and non-verbal communication—in modern management practices. Major Bandara highlighted how understanding kinesics can enhance leadership, team dynamics, and effective communication within organizations. The session underscored the importance of non-verbal cues in fostering stronger workplace relationships and improving managerial efficiency.
Sixty undergraduate students from the Faculty of Management and Commerce actively participated in the session, gaining valuable insights into the practical applications of kinesics in building leadership presence, improving team collaboration, and refining communication strategies.
This initiative by the Department of Business Economics provided students with a broader perspective on the impact of non-verbal communication in managerial contexts, equipping them with skills essential for future leadership roles.
