A Legacy of Excellence: Annual Awarding Ceremony of the Department of Commerce 2024
The Annual Awarding Ceremony of the Department of Commerce was held on October 23, 2024, at the Sri Sumangala Auditorium, celebrating the outstanding achievements of students and fostering a spirit of academic excellence. The event was graced by Mr. Ranil Pathirana, Group Director of Hirdaramani Group of Companies, who served as the Chief Guest. He was joined by notable representatives from the Hirdaramani Group, including Mr. Inthaaj Careem, General Manager of Human Resources, Compliance, and Administration, and Mr. Chamindu Jayasinghe, Executive of Human Resources.
In memory of the late Mr. Bagawandas Hirdaramani and the late Mr. Nanda Hirdaramani, founding members of the Hirdaramani Group, the Hidramani Memorial scholarship was awarded by the Hirdaramani Group to the students with the highest GPA in the B.Com (Honours) Degree program as follows
- Highest Overall GPA – B.Com (Honours) Degree – Part I: G B V Perera & S Digalya
- Highest Overall GPA – B.Com (Honours) Degree – Part II: M F Fernando
- Highest Overall GPA – B.Com (Honours) Degree – Part III: M A D S V Perera
The event featured an inspiring address from S D C Watsala, the best-performing graduate of the Department of Commerce from the 2018/2019 batch, who shared valuable insights from her academic journey, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and dedication in achieving success.
Additionally, awards were presented to the top-performing students in various subjects offered by the Department of Commerce, acknowledging their hard work and outstanding results in the End Semester Examinations. These awards serve as a testament to the students’ commitment and dedication to their academic pursuits.
