Power BI Workshop - Unleash the power of your data

The Department organized a special two day workshop on Power BI Business Analytics tool giving a great opportunity to participants to get familiar to a sophisticated modern tool to mold the students to face the corporate challenges in the future. The session was conducted by Mr. Lasantha Gamage who is a member of the alumni of the department who has over 16 plus years of experience in oil and gas, resources, constructions and non-profit sectors in Australia and Overseas companies, having held senior management accounting, Finance Controller and Business partner positions at Air Force Association, Superior Energy and Merlo Group Australia. Before he migrated to Australia. He worked with the International Federation of Red Cross in Sri Lanka and worked as a Head of Finance at UNICEF funded tsunami school construction programme.

The today workshop was held on the 04th and 05th of January 2022 via the Zoom Meeting Platform where many important aspects were discussed in length during the workshop. Introduction-Hardware Requirements, Data Skills, Roles in Data, Tasks of Data Analyst, What is Power BI, Why this is Important, Desktop , Internet and Mobile APP, Data Visualization and tools, Case study, Job Market and Further learnings were discussed over the two days
