A groundbreaking forum was hosted by the Department of Commerce. This exceptional event is born from our innovative Sustainable Commerce course, promising profound insights into the dynamic world of e-commerce and its transformative potential in today’s socio-economic landscape.
In partnership with the renowned e-commerce giant Daraz, our department proudly presented an exclusive workshop which featured a distinguished panel of experts. Mr. Ehsan Saya who was a Former Investment Banker turned visionary leader of Daraz, spearheading its revolution as Managing Director in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. With a mission to democratize commerce, he empowers businesses to thrive in the digital realm. He shared his views how e-commerce is performing in the South Asian market and how it will transform the future activities related trade.
Another member of the panel Mr. Oshan Ranathunga who is a dynamic innovator driving Daraz’s transformation as Chief Commercial Officer in Sri Lanka. With a wealth of experience, he’s reshaping how businesses engage with millions of customers shared his views how e-commerce and Daraz especially contributed to the growth of economy. How these platforms transform conventional trading practices to more sophisticated but cost effective business operations especially for general trade led economy.
Mr. Kaushal Mendis who brought over 19 years of seasoned HR expertise to the forum, where Mr. Mendis serves as the Chief People Officer of Daraz in Sri Lanka & Pakistan. His wealth of experience spans diverse industries, enriching our dialogue with invaluable insights into people-centric strategies. Mr. Mendis delve in depth regarding who passion and practicality can shape up a career touching the hearts of the audience who will be future leaders of the country.
This noteworthy session was moderated by Mr. Jonathan Sundersingh, Manager Talent Acquisition for Daraz Sri Lanka, who facilitated enriching discussions on the socio-economic implications of digital commerce, offering actionable strategies for success in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
The forum was conducted Under the theme “The Transformative Influence of E-Commerce” which created a chance to unlock e-commerce secrets but also was a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in business education. It was held on the 30th of April 2024 at the Fayol, University premises and the event was coordinated by Mrs. Shanika Kumarasinghe – Lecturer (Probationary) on behalf of the Department.
