Corporate Sustainability Accounting – Field Visit
The third-year undergraduates of the Department of Accounting, who follow ACC 3348: Corporate Sustainability Accounting course visited Wijeya Newspapers Ltd (WNL), Hokandara complex on 23rd December 2022 to study and experience the sustainable practices adopted in the printing industry. The plant sustainability team explained their environmental policy, energy policy, waste management policy, green productivity practices, quality standards adopted, sustainability awards won, and various other innovative sustainability practices. The students and the lecturers had the opportunity to gain more insights into the standardized newspaper printing process along with sustainability practices in the printing industry. The students were accompanied by the lecturers of the Department; Dr. Nuwan Gunarathne, Ms. Thilini Cooray and Ms. Nathasha Kaumadi. This visit was facilitated by Mr Janaka Rathnakumara, the Chief Operating Officer of WNL.
