Guest Lecture Session on ‘Workplace Etiquette, Professional Conduct, and Personal Grooming’
Miss Amali De Silva, Manager, Business Development and Priority Banking Portfolio, Hatton National Bank PLC, conducted a session on ‘Workplace Etiquette, Professional Conduct, and Personal Grooming’ under the Personal and Professional Development Programme offered for the second-year undergraduates of the Department of Accounting, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, on 26th October 2023. With respect to ‘Workplace Etiquette’ she highlighted the importance of; acting with honesty and integrity. She also advised students to be punctual, to respect others. to have a passion for what they do at the workplace, to be thankful for all good things, to know how to introduce one’s self, to smile / greet / make eye contact, to accept and apologize for mistakes made, to listen to others before making a judgmental decision, to make conversations very clear, to use personal devices only when permitted, to maintain personal space and boundaries, and to improve spiritual values. She highlighted that, acting with honesty and integrity play a vital role in ‘Professional Conduct’ too. She elaborated on ‘Personal Grooming for Females’ and ‘Personal Grooming for Males’ at the workplace.
