Guest Lecture on World Employment Trends

“Human resource isn’t a thing we do, it’s the thing that runs our business”

                                                                      _Steve Wynne_

Employment trends have been changing over time due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and many other reasons. Sri Lanka, as a developing country, and due to several other factors, it is important to be aware of the changes happening in the labor market in the Asia-Pacific region.

To give a sound understanding in the labour market trends, the Department of Business Economics, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce organized a guest lecture on the topic of “World Employment Trends (With Particular reference to Asia-Pacific)”.

This lecture which was conducted by Dr. Miguel Sanchez Martinez (Economist) of the International Labour Organization, was successfully held on 27th November 2022 from 1.00 pm onwards. This expert session managed to open a productive discussion for the students to reflect upon and improve on their knowledge.

This lecture was mainly conducted for the third-year undergraduates of the Departments of Business Economics and Human Resource Management as a part of the course BEC 3347: Labour Economics.
