Japan confers "The Order of the Rising Sun" to Snr. Prof. Sampath Amaratunge

For the dedication to the cause of promoting friendly relations between Japan and Sri Lanka, Senior Prof. Sampath Amaratunge (Professor Chair of Business Economics and Chairman of University Grants Commission) has been conferred by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan with “The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays” award.

We, the Department of Business Economics of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura wish to offer our warmest congratulations to our Senior Prof. Sampath Amaratunge for this great achievement.

“The Order of the Rising Sun” is the highest order conferred by the Government of Japan, in the name of His Majesty the Emperor, upon those who have made distinguished achievements in international relations, promotion of Japanese culture, achievements in their respective field, development in welfare or preservation of the environment.
