Ishari Madukala is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Economics, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She is currently a PhD candidate in Labour Economics at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. Her doctoral research examines educational mismatch and labour market outcomes, focusing on overeducation, earnings, and job satisfaction across OECD, New Zealand, and Sri Lankan contexts.
She holds a Master's in Economics from the University of Colombo and a BSc in Business Administration (Business Economics) (Special) Degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Her research interests include labour economics, applied econometrics, and human capital investment. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at national and international conferences.
At the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, she has served as a course coordinator in Labour Economics, Money and Banking, and Macroeconomics, and contributed actively to curriculum development, quality assurance, and student workshops in collaboration with institutions such as the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the ILO. She has also supervised numerous undergraduate dissertations and continues to contribute to research and teaching in economics.
