Dr. Sumudu Perera is Professor in Business Economics at the Department of Business Economics of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce in the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. She earned her PhD from the University of New England, Australia. She holds an MA in International Economics and Finance from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and an MBA from Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. She completed her Bachelor in Commerce Degree for which she was awarded the Gold Medal for the most outstanding student of the programme. Her research interests focus on international trade, trade policy and trade liberalisation and has published extensively in leading economics and management journals including South Asian Economic Journal and Journal of Economic Integration. She has served as the Editor-in-Chief for Sri Lanka Journal of Economic Research and Sri Lanka Journal of Business Economics. She has also served as an Editor for publications of many national and international conference proceedings. Sumudu was the former Head of the Department of Business Economics in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce and is currently the Coordinator of the Master of Philosophy in Business Economics programme offered by the same department. She has functioned as the Chair and Co-Chair in many International Conferences on Business Management. As a scholar she holds the membership of Sri Lanka Forum of University Economists. Sumudu also served as a member of the Board of Studies of the School of Accounting and Business at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka.
