I believe that I have been privileged to follow the degree programme offered by the Business Economics Department of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. It is one of the most unique undergraduate programmes offered by the entire university system in Sri Lanka. Combining the discipline of Management with Economics adds great value to the programme. In today’s dynamic and competitive world, a graduate with this specialization would be open for many job opportunities in many areas of work including the corporate sector, the public sector, the banking sector, policy analysis, research work etc. This programme not only opens up many job opportunities but it also bestows the undergraduates with the relevant competencies and skills to perform extremely well in their career. The drive behind the Department’s success is its panel of experienced and well qualified lecturers who have committed to the quality of the degree programme as well as the wellbeing of the students. The lecturers make this programme more interesting and practical by organizing guest lectures, industry visits, workshops and seminars, surveys and field visits. It is my belief that I have laid out a very strong foundation in my higher studies after completing this degree programme, thereby paving my path of success in my further studies. I am grateful to all my lecturers for inspiring me and giving me the best experience as an undergraduate in Business Economics.
