Curriculum Development Workshop of the Department of Business Economics
The Department of Business Economics was established in 2002 with the primary objective of meeting the growing demand for an economics degree within the management discipline. As the first degree programme of its kind in the Sri Lankan university system, it was specifically designed to bridge the gap between economic theory and its practical application in business.
The Department also supports the development of undergraduates’ competencies in research, analysis, communication, teamwork, and decision-making, thereby contributing to their personal and professional development as well as the broader development of society and the nation.
Curriculum Development Workshop
To update the curriculum in response to changes in the competitive and dynamic global and local business environment, the Department initiated the development of a new curriculum. As the first step in this process, a workshop was conducted on 24 October 2017 to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the existing curriculum and determine the changes required.
Date: 24 October 2017
Venue: Hotel Berjaya, Mount Lavinia
Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura; Dr. (Mrs.) Kumuduni Sriyalatha, Head of the Department; and all academic and non-academic staff members participated in the workshop and shared their valuable insights.
