Themed “Navigating Global Trade and Foreign Exchange in an Era of Climate Resilience,” the Navigate Sri Lanka 2026 Industry Forum was held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. onwards.

This event, held for the seventh consecutive year, was organized by the final-year undergraduates of the Department of Business Economics under the subject BEC 4372: International Trade and Payments, coordinated by Prof. M. S. Sumudu Perera.

The forum created a dynamic platform for dialogue between industry experts, academics, policymakers, and students to explore the growing influence of climate change on global trade and foreign exchange dynamics.

We were privileged to host a distinguished panel of experts:

  • Dr. Anil Perera – Director of the Market Operations Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka
  • Mr. Lahiru Wijerathna – Chief Executive Officer of Modern Pack Lanka Pvt Ltd
  • Ms. Arani Rodrigo Weerasekara – Head of the Economic Intelligence Unit at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce

The discussion was moderated by Mr. Asel Hettiarachchi, Lecturer (probationary) at the Department of Business Economics.

From the impact of climate shocks on supply chains and balance of payments to the importance of adopting climate-resilient policies and green finance mechanisms, the evening was filled with meaningful insights, thoughtful dialogue, and shared learning.

We extend our sincere thanks to all panelists, staff members, sponsors, and participants who made Navigate Sri Lanka 2026 a resounding success.
