Young Business Economists shine at J’pura Employability Skills Awards 2025

BEC Students and EconInsight Recognised at the J’PURA Employability Skills Awards 2025

Students of the Department of Business Economics and its flagship student initiative, EconInsight, earned top recognition at the J’PURA Employability Skills Awards 2025, bringing pride to the Department.

Pawanya Balasooriya, a final-year undergraduate of the Department of Business Economics, received the Best Employability Skills Achiever (BESA) Award for the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. The award recognises outstanding undergraduates who demonstrate excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and leadership. Pawanya’s versatility and exceptional all-round performance earned her this prestigious recognition.

Anujini Perera, also a final-year undergraduate of the Department, was named Second Runner-Up for the BESA Award. This achievement reflects her strong academic, extracurricular, and leadership capabilities.

Adding to the Department’s success, EconInsight 2025, the annual outreach initiative of the Business Economics Students’ Association, was awarded Second Runner-Up for Best CSR Project. This recognition highlights the initiative’s meaningful and continued contribution to supporting Advanced Level Economics education across Sri Lanka.
